Here we offer you a Marryat MR85, very rare in this condition. The reel was designed by Georg Gehrke, an american inventor. The reel has a “frameless” design as the famous Bogdan, Wulff and Orvis reels.
The drag is a “one way roller clutch” which Gehrke patented. It is copper coloured. Formerly produced in Switzerland this reel comes from Smith Ltd. in Japan (serial number: 030379). It is set up for left hand retrieve but can easily be changed to right hand use. Also you can choose between silent or audible check. It comes together with a spare spool. Both reel and spare spool have backing and fly lines.
The clean reel design perfectly fits both with classic bamboo rods and also with fiberglass and carbon rods.
Note: Georg Selwyn Marryat lived in England from 1840 to 1896 in England and is regarded today as the most talented and sophisticated dry fly fisherman ever.
