The rod we offer here is an excellent condition. It is straight and its ferrules fit well.
This is a great piece of bamboo rodbuilding art in the USA. The rod is probably from 1955. It has a Hardy style locking seat with a black spacer and dark red silk wrappings.
It has two fine tips (one of the rings on the additional tip has been restored by a rodbuilder, see picture).
It comes with the original rod sock and rod tube.
The casting characteristics remind us of older Leonard rods with its typical medium slow action.
This is a good allround rod for trout and grayling. The length of 8´5 makes it good for medium sized rivers.
After leaving Leonard Fred Thomas went to Bangor, Maine to build his rods under his own name. He used the principles he learned at Leonard for all his life.
